Principal's Message

Mr. Josh Mears

It is a great privilege to be part of the Queen of Peace community as the school principal!

My fondness for the special feel of the Catholic school environment is rooted in my own youth. I began my education at St. Bernard School in Springfield, Ohio. It introduced me to the school uniform, classroom prayer, altar serving, and holy days. To CYO, the old-school recess bell, and Sisters who taught me math and religion. To the crucifix in every classroom, shadow Stations of the Cross, and Field Day on the outside expanses of blacktop and grass that now look, whenever I return to visit, like shrunken versions of what my eyes saw as a grade-schooler.

The nostalgia runs deep. As it should. Because Catholic schools are special places, lamp lights for the Spirit that animates them and justifies their existence.

Queen of Peace is itself a special place. Special to me because of the relationships I continue to form with the many good people who care very much about the school and the students who fill its classrooms. Special to you, perhaps, for similar reasons. Or maybe different ones. But special nonetheless.

Either way, one of the adventures I cherish the most is working together with the teachers, families, and students at Queen of Peace School to more fully define the unique qualities that set us apart. Some of these qualities already exist. Where they do, we have given them new expression. See: Makerspace! Others we have created through coordinated reflection on our potential. See: Qaleidoscope Program! Let the adventures continue....

In all that we are and all that we decide to become, we will always remain a school driven by the core mission--to teach students to see Jesus in self and others, to teach students to think and act with virtue, and to teach students relevant academic skills in a way that challenges them with appropriate rigor.

Thank you for choosing Catholic education. Thank you for choosing Queen of Peace School.

Sincerely,

Josh Mears
